National auditor of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju, has said the party will spring surprises in the South-West, despite the fact that the area was perceived to be the stronghold of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
Adeyanju, who made the assertion while addressing journalists in Abuja, dismissed claims by a former member of the party, Chief Alani Akinde, that PDP was already dead in the zone and that the alternative to it was the Labour Party.
Adeyanju said that the claim was not only false but also misleading and capable of sending the wrong message to the teeming supporters of the party across the zone and Nigeria.
Adeyanju said: “I think he (Akinde) made the statement out of ignorance. That was exactly what they did in 2011 when they rushed out of the PDP to float Peoples Party Nigeria, PPN, along with their master and they failed woefully and later returned to PDP.
“This time around, they are embarking on the same venture; they have gone to the Labour Party with their master but soon we shall see them coming back to beg us in PDP.”
