TRADE Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, weekend decried the delay by President Goodluck Jonathan in presenting the 2014 budget proposal to the National Assembly, warning that the delay was bad for Nigeria’s economic development and growth.
The umbrella body for senior staff associations in the country equally faulted perceived forced holiday given to National Assembly workers in preparation for the aborted presentation of the 2014 budget by President Goodluck Jonathan to a joint session of the National Assembly, describing it as unnecessary, counter‑productive and an example of executive impunity.
TUC in a statement by its President and Secretary General, Bobboi Kaigama and Musa Lawal, argued that was a globally acknowledged fact that good budgeting and early presentation of budgets was serious business for better fiscal and socio‑economic planning and should not be subject to delay on the basis of frivolities.
