Yenaoa—Bayelsa State Government has declared a-three-day mourning period in honour of the late President of the pan-Ijaw socio-cultural group, Ijaw National Congress, INC, Senator Tari Sekibo, who died on Monday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The government also directed that flags be flown at half mast for three days beginning from yesterday, in public buildings and places across the state.
Also, the ‘Thank You Tour’ to the eight local government areas of the state, earlier scheduled to commence today, has been shifted to November 25.
Governor Seriake Dickson, in a statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Deacon Markson Fefegha, described the death of the late INC President as a loss, not only to Ijaw nation but Nigeria as a whole, due to his wealth of experience and contributions to the development of the Ijaw nation.
Burial arrangements for the late INC leader, according to the statement would be announced later by his family and the Okrika Council of Chiefs, while government in consultation with the INC, family and Okrika Council of Chiefs will take part in the burial arrangements.
