FG promotes 2,672 civil servants

By OKEY NDIRIBE

No fewer than 2,672 federal civil servants have been promoted to the directorate level by the Federal Civil Service Commission. This followed the promotion examinations held for them earlier in the year.

Dr. Joel Oruche, Head, Press and Public Relations, Federal Civil Service Commission, in a statement, said that 4,493 officers participated in the 2013 promotion exercise for the Directorate levels (14-16), adding that out of this number, 2,672 were successful, representing 59.57 percent.

Oruche said that the number and percentage of officers, who got elevated after this year’s promotion examina-tions, was significantly higher than that of previous years.

He traced this to certain positive measures that were introduced during the screening process for officers, thereby accommodating more of them for elevation to the directorate level.

He said that 1,229 officers were promoted to the directorate level in the year 2012 out of 4,034 that sat for the examination, representing 30.6 percent.
