Gbenga Elegbeleye
The Director Gener-al of the National Sports Commission Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye has commended the Super Eagles team for qualifying for next year’s World Cup slated for Brazil.
He also charged the Chief Coach of the team Stephen Keshi to do everything humanly possible to make the team a world beater like he did in South Africa this February when he led the team to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Elegbeleye who watched the match live in Calabar on Saturday also thanked Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River for hosting the Eagles during their camping exercise in the state till the last qualifying match the team played against Ethiopia and won 2-0 yesterday but booked the World Cup ticket on 4-1 goals aggregate.
The former Deputy Chairman House of Representatives’ Committee on Sports however charged the Stephen Keshi tutored team to prepare harder and show more dedication as they battle the best footballing nations at next year’s World Cup finals.
He showered praises on the team for securing a 5th World Cup appearance and at a time Nigerians are gearing up for the country’s centenary celebration.”The World Cup finals is a big stage that requires serious preparation, hard work and commitment of all stakeholders.
The Presidency Has assured on continual support for a remarkable showing in Brazil”, Elegbeleye disclosed.
