BENIN — Edo State House of Assembly, yesterday, described as “untrue and wicked lies” the allegation by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state that the state government debt profile was about N200 billion.

The House also described as laughable claims by the chairman of PDP in the state, Chief Dan Orbih, that the state had been underdeveloped by the Adams Oshiomhole-led administration, describing Orbih as a “confused spectator” following his claim that the state government had received over N19.5 billion as security votes.

The Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Philip Shauibu, said that the PDP chairman had personalised his criticisms against Governor Oshiomhole and urged Orbih not to hide under the chairmanship of PDP in the state to fight his personal battle against the governor.

He admonished him to “sort out his personal problem with the governor if there is any because each time he criticises, he says Oshiomhole. But Oshiomhole is just the governor, any decision made is that of the state government.

“For an opposition to be a strong one, it has to be able to work with facts, not speaking blindly. Everybody today knows that Edo State is much better than how PDP left it.”
