Chelsea star Mikel Obi has said the Super Eagles will cause some upsets at next year’s World Cup in Brazil.

Mikel said Nigeria has the potentials to upset the world at next year’s World Cup, if the players played with the same spirit that enabled the team win the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa earlier this year.

“The potentials are obvious but we must avoid arrogance and complacency. With that this team will go places,” he said.

Nigeria’s best World Cup performance was reaching the Round of 16 in 1994 and 1998.

Fellow Eagles star Godfrey Oboabona said he learnt a lot from playing against the Italians.

“I noticed that before any player moves the other person already knows were to run. They were very clever with the ball and I told some of my teammates that we must borrow that from them.

If we do that with the type of technical crew we have at the moment, our team will go places,” said the Turkey-based defender.
