Yenagoa—Bayelsa State Government has condemned weekend’s violent clash between Akenfa and Agudama-Epie communities in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state, which reportedly left three persons dead and  several others injured.

Governor Seriake Dickson, in a statement, yesterday, flayed the ugly situation and called on the feuding communities to sheathe their swords pending the outcome of the investigation panel set up by the government.

The panel, headed by the state deputy governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah (rtd), has as its members, the Commissioner of Police, Director of Department of State Security, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey and the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor.

The setting up of the panel, according to the statement, was to find lasting solution to the lingering crisis.

“However, where such cannot be achieved, the government will be forced to invoke a section of the Constitution and take over the ownership of the land in accordance with the laws of the land,” he said, noting  that security operatives had been deployed to the area to prevent any form of reprisal attacks by either of the feuding parties.
