LAGOS — Local Airlines operators under the aegis of Airline Operators of Nigeria, AON, have suspended all remittances to aviation agencies because of what they considered excessive charges and have called on the Federal Government to intervene in the astronomical charges imposed by the various aviation agencies.
Spokesman for the group, Mohammed Tukur who said he had been mandated to speak on behalf of the airlines, because of fear of reprisal, said all remittances, both old and new had been stopped.
He said with effect from November 1, 2013, the airlines had stopped all remittances payable to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency ,NAMA, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria ,FAAN, and other relevant aviation bodies.
