Soldier to hang for homicide

Abuja—AN FCT High Court in Jabi, Abuja, have sentenced a soldier, Kabiru Abdullahi, to death by hanging for killing one Musa Tanko.

Abdullahi was a private in the Nigerian Army when he committed the crime. He was found guilty of stabbing Tanko to death with a knife.

Abdullahi was charged on one-count of culpable homicide, punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code.

Justice Ugochukwu Ogakwu, while delivering judgment, said the testimony of the witness was ‘credible’ and clearly showed the convict’s guilt.

Ogakwu said the convict intentionally, and with the knowledge that death or grievous bodily injury would be the probable consequence of his action, stabbed the deceased in the neck.
