Pirates have stormed an oil supply vessel off southern Nigeria and kidnapped the ship’s captain and chief engineer, both US citizens, a private security firm and US officials said Thursday.

The clash between policemen attached to Area ‘E’ police Command, Festac Town, Lagos and some officials of Amuwo- Odofin Local Government led by its Chairman, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, last Sunday, nearly turned bloody but for the timely intervention of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dan Okoro, who saved the day.

The police on Thursday in Lagos arraigned a 46-year-old man, Segun Okeseara, for allegedly assaulting his neighbours with an aluminium bucket over alleged theft of his sachets of pure water in their apartment.
