Gov. Uduaghan

SPECIAL Adviser to the President on Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Professor Sylvester Monye has called on Nigerians, especially the people of Niger-Delta, to exercise patience with the President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administrations saying they had done well in governance.
Professor Monye gave the charge while addressing about 5000 stakeholders, leaders and members of PDP drawn from the three senatorial districts and 25 local government areas of Delta State.
Developmental programmes
At the event held at his expanse conference hall at Onicha-Ugbo, in Delta State, Monye enumerated the numerous developmental programmes and projects of Presudent Jonathan and Governor Uduaghan .
Monye, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Ifeoma Monye, Ambassador Echiegile and former Representative of Ndbkwa East Constituency, in the House of Representatives, Mercy Almona-Isei among others, told the crowd that the purpose of the gathering was to educate and inform them of the need to exercise patience with the present administration as regards infrastructural development.
He remarked that it was a thing of joy to have Dr. Jonathan as President assuring. that if given support for a second coming, he would deliver more dividends of democracy to the citizenry.
“The media in the country is dominated by opposition as a result, do not tell all the good works of Mr. President. I am not sent by either the President or the governor of our dear state, Dr. Uduaghan to tell you this but with my position as special adviser on Monitoring, I am here to tell you the truth as it stands in terms of development.”
Highlighting the achievements of the President, since assumption of office, he said that Dr. Jonathan’s administration had improved for the first time the country’s economic base which is the second fastest growing in the world, while there is increase in power generation.
On roads, he stated that most link roads across the country are being constructed as well as rehabilitated including the longest road in the country, the Kano – Maiduguri Road which he said work on it is 50 per cent completed.
Also, the second Niger bridge is ongoing as well as works on the Lagos/lbadan — Lagos/Benin — Asaba roads among others.
“For the first time in 30 years, this is the first time a rail line from Lagos to Kano has been put in place by this administration. At the inception of this administration, Nigerians were importing rice; but the story will soon be a thing of the past as plans are in place through partnering with various individual farms to produce large quantities of rice while farmers now have access to fertilizers for their farms”.
He pointed out that apart from the road networks, the various airports of the country are now wearing new looks including that of the Asaba International Airport which has state of the art facilities.
Monye commended Governor Uduaghan for his giant strides especially in road construction, educational upliftment and development, health facilities among other human capital and basic infrastructural developments in the state.
He appealed for leaders to be encouraged and supported by the electorate so as to enable them do more.
