LAGOS — Three people were severely burnt during a fire outbreak at the premises of Second Coming Nigeria Limited Gas Plant, on Lekki-Epe Expressway, Sangotedo, Ajah.

Newsmen were denied access into the building, while the entire premises was evacuated except for men of the Fire Service.

Information made available to Vanguard through the Public Relations Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mr. Ibrahim Fariloye, revealed that the incident occurred at 5:30a.m. due to the activities of suspected vandals.

He said they scaled the fence of the gas plant from behind the building and attempted to steal gas products from one of the tankers within the premises, but in the process the tanker caught fire.

It was gathered that the incident, which recorded no casualties, left three of the company staff severely burnt, and receiving treatments at the Gbagada GeneralHospital.

He said: “We got an alert at 5:30a.m. that some people broke in from behind the building, and tried to vandalise a tanker that had gas inside.

“In the process, we don’t know what might have happened, but fire just broke out.

“Three staff of the company, who were badly burnt, are currently receiving treatment at the Gbagada GeneralHospital.

“Journalists were not allowed into the premises because of the risk involved. We don’t want to expose anybody to further risks.

““Apart from the tanker that the vandals attempted to steal gas from, which caught fire, no other company property was damaged. The entire staff have been evacuated.”
