THE Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, Odjedi Ward 4 Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, has slammed indefinite suspension order on the minority leader of the State House of Assembly, Mr Julius Okpoko and six others over their alleged romance with the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Also suspended are; Ambrose Odey, former youth leader, Freeborn Omonena, PRO, Jonal Otorakpo, ward leader, Emmanuel Ubido, Organizing Secretary, Lucky Onoyeti, councillorship aspirant and Daniel Iyamu. Mr Julius Okpoko was elected into the State House of Assembly on the platform of the DPP.
The party in a statement by the ward Chairman, Mr. Obasodje Silver and Secretary, Mr. Elvis Oreh and other leaders of the party in the ward said “the suspension of Mr Julius Okpoko, minority leader, Delta State House of Assembly and six others was in line with article 30, section (iii) of the party constitution.”
According to the statement, “the party resolved after several hours of deliberations on the activities of the minority leader of the State House of Assembly, representing Okpe State constituency, Mr Julius Okpoko and six others over their anti party activities that they should be suspended indefinite.”
The statement alleged that; “Mr. Okpoko and the six others have been having romance with the All Progressive Congress, APC, and had attended its meeting at Asaba and the recent APC primary election held in Ughelli North Local Government area on 25th Sept., 2013.”
It further alleged that; “no party member have benefited from his (Okpoko) empowerment programme, whereas members of other parties are benefitting from it.”
As at the time of filing this report, effort was still being made to reach Mr Julius Okpoko for comment on the matter.
