There is excitement in the air  and high expectation from players who will showcase their talent in a fierce competition among the contending teams as the curtain draws on this year’s edition of the MTN Lagos Street Soccer tournament with the final taking  place at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, tomorrow.

Most of the teams are of the opinion that it is a great privilege to be among the finalists, as the tournament offers an enviable platform to display their skills. More so, the cash prizes attached to the tournament has not only been a source of encou-ragement, but also, the international expo-sure that the tournament offers the eventual finalists.

Ishola Sikiritu, the team coordinator of the 2011 champion, Akapo Lawal Street, Apapa, said his team have positioned themselves again to emerge winner tomorrow. “We have trained a lot, this has made us both physically and psychological fit to play a good match on Sunday’ he declared.

Other teams like  ABS Street, Mosan Okunola, Agege Street, Ikoyi Obalende and Pike Street, Lagos Island which are getting to the final stage for the first time as well as the defending Champion, Koilo Street 2 and  Lagos Island West have all declared that they will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that they give out their best on the field of play.

The tournament, an initiative of the Lagos State Government and sponsored by MTN Nigeria, will see the winning team in the male category, smile home with N5 million, the winner of the female category gets a prize money of N1 million while the winner of the U-15 category gets N1 million.
