Two suspected terrorists died on Sunday after a bomb went up near the stadium as Ethiopia played Nigeria in a 2014 World Cup playoff.
According to CNN World Sport, the terrorists, believed to be of Somalian origin, died as they were allegedly preparing the bomb in a house near the stadium in Addis Ababa.
The explosion is reported to have happened approximately three Kilometres away from the stadium in Addis Ababa as the World Cup playoff was in progress.
It is still unclear whether the game was the intended target for the alleged terrorist as details are still coming in.
The Super Eagles won the first leg game 2-1 inside a packed Ethiopia National Stadium.
Nigeria officials have complained of ill treatment in Ethiopia and reported to the organisers an attack on the team’s bus soon after the match on Sunday.
Spain-based midfielder Nosa Igiebor was injured in the attack, officials said.
The return leg match will be played in Calabar next month with the overall winners booking a place at next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
