AWKA — All Progressive Congress, APC, in Anambra State has placed the alleged destruction of 114 of its bill boards at the door steps of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA -led administration of Governor Peter Obi.
This was contained in a statement Mr. Okelo Madukaife on behalf of Dr. Chris Ngige Campaign Organisation, in Awka ,yesterday.
Ngige is APC’s gubernatorial candidate for the November 16 election in the state.
The statement read, ‘’Our attention has been drawn to the propaganda piece ‘Ngige pulls down Obiano’s bill board,’ which has been circulated on the internet by a paid Anambra State Government/APGA writer.
’’In the first place, Ngige has not pulled down anyone’s billboards and is not likely to do so in spite of the provocations by the APGA camp using government apparatus to pull down over 64 billboards and destroying more than 50 others belonging to Senator Chris Ngige, the candidate to beat in the elections. Ngige has since moved on with other creative ways of reaching the voters in Anambra State which is continuously evolving.
’’Our candidate is not a stranger to persecution and his strength and popularity is partly owed to his tremendous capability to keep his eyes on the ball, by not resorting to revenge, when the bottom line effect could be counter productive. We understand the discomfort and disquiet created in the Anambra State Government circles and the APGA fold, because their plan is to draw Ngige out into the field on a full-scale combat, a plan that was developed as part of a seven-point agenda to compromise the November 16 elections.”
