Youth Games: Kano Taekwondo Coach eyes 6 gold medals

Lagos – The Kano State Taekwondo Coach, Ibrahim Yahuza, on Friday said that his team would emerge the winner of the National Youth Games scheduled for Dec. 5 to Dec. 15 in Abuja.

Yahuza on telephone in Lagos said that he intended to win six gold medals out of the 10 events to be competed for at the competition.

According to him, the events included male and female individual sparring and poomsae (the art of making coordinated series of movements against an imaginary opponent).

“I assure you that we will win six gold medals at the competition because presently I have one of the best Taekwondo grassroots programme in the country.

“In addition, I have managed and trained some of the best fighters that have represented the country in international tournaments,’’ he said.

Yahuza said that he would attend the competition with 10 boys and four girls who would represent the state at the competition.

He said that the athletes were fit because they had been training consistently for the competition since the beginning of the year. (NAN)
