A group, the PDP Forward Forum, has asked the national leadership of the party to pick a neutral person from those that participated in the party’s primaries as the candidate of the party for the November 16 if PDP hopes to take part in the election.
In a statement in Awka yesterday, the group’s chairman, Mr. Bertram Okonkwo described as unfortunate a situation whereby members of the party in Anambra State have not known their governorship candidate two months to the election.
He said: “It is now left for the PDP to go back to the drawing board and re-strategize on the way forward.
One of the options left to the party is to revisit the list of its primary aspirants and pick a candidate who appears to be neutral and unaffected in the power-play.
“Political analysts are of the opinion that one of the aspirants who contested but were not successful, such as Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, Senator Emma Anosike and Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, could be a possible consensus candidate for the Anambra PDP.
“We believe that Ugochukwu Okeke stands tall among all of the aspirants because he is visible on both sides of the divide. beyond.”
Okonkwo enjoined the major players in the current dispute to put personal interest aside and work for the oneness and togetherness of PDP.
