Ado Ekiti — Chief Remi Oguntuase, an aide to a member of the House of Representative, Opeyemi Bamidele, has been arrested by the officials of the Department of State Service, DSS, Ekiti State Command.

Though, there was no official reports from the  DSS for the arrest of the politician, Vanguard gathered that the arrest of the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, might not be unconnected with his role in the last Thursday’s botched rally organised by  Bamidele to declare his governorship ambition.

The arrest of Oguntuase was confirmed by Mr. Ahmed Salami, a Special Assistant on Media to Bamidele in Ado Ekiti, yesterday.

Corroborating Salami on the arrest, an aide of Oguntuse, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed six DSS operatives had earlier on Monday stormed Oguntuase’s residence at Onigari, GRA, in Ado-Ekiti, around 11a.m. and held 10 occupants of the house hostage for about 40 minutes.

He alleged that the six-man team seized the hand-sets of all the occupants, including Oguntuase’s children and wife and ransacked all the rooms in the building.

Oguntuase was, according to him, later whisked away in a white Hilux Van alongside his wife to the DSS headquarters on new Iyin Road in the state capital.

They were later released at about 10p.m. on Monday.
