Nokia in new Lumia Smartphone with 4.7 Inch Screen

After the shocking announcement of the sale of Nokia’s device and service arm to Microsoft penultimate week, the least industry watchers expected was to hear Microsoft’s plans to put the transaction to good use for its benefit.

But full of surprises itself, Nokia also pulled a surprising appearance at the weekend with the launch of its 625 specification of the Nokia Lumia.

You can bet that majority of guests at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Lagos venue of the launch, came to see whether there was a microsoft addition to the Nokia Lumia now that power is changing hands. But Nokia still has its influence all over the product. This time around, it even partnered telecommunications service provider, MTN and African urban music channel, SoundCity in a world class entertainment mobile product launch tagged #LiveLumia party.

The Nokia Lumia 625 comes with a wide 4.7 inch screen making it the largest screen within the Nokia Lumia range.

Fully loaded with multi-media content, the device spots a brilliant 4.7-inch IPS touch display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, which gives users a fantastic experience while playing games, watching movies and surfing the internet. The Lumia 625 also features a 5 megapixel camera with full 1080p HD video recording, autofocus, LED flash as well as a front facing VGA Camera and 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

The device comes with the trademark Carl Zeiss lens and Nokia Smart Camera technology. This enables users to take a sequence of photos and then select the best shots by deleting unwanted objects or selecting the best facial expressions to create the perfect group shot.

Speaking at the launch, Sales Director, Nokia Middle East and Africa, Patrick Dravet, highlighted that the wider screen means that consumers can enjoy more with their Nokia Lumia 625.

“Bringing a great consumer experience across the Nokia portfolio is top priority for us. The response to our Lumia range of smartphones has been very positive and the new Lumia 625 brings a bigger and faster Lumia to the mix, continuing the innovation in product design and services,” he added.

MTN’s part of the deal is to offer consumers double their data plans at purchase of the new device. This, according to the partners, would give users more data to stream movies, music and browse the internet at amazing speeds.
