ONITSHA — Senator Chris Ngige, yesterday, picked the ticket of the All Progressive Congress, APC, to contest the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State.
Announcing the result of the party governorship primaries, chairman of APC the election committee for Anambra, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, said that Ngige polled 63,255 votes as against 9,564 votes got by his opponent, Chief Godwin Ezeemo.
He said: “Having satisfied the provisions of the party guidelines and the electoral Act, I have the pleasure of returning Dr. Chris Ngige as the winner of this governorship primary election in Anambra State.”
In his acceptance speech, Ngige said APC had made history in the state by the primaries that was done peacefully, free and fair.
He said: “We have just begun our journey to the Awka Government House. We are going to march forward.
“In today’s contest there is no loser and there is no winner and I call on all APC members to join hands.”
