Umuahia –  Gov. Theodore Orji of Abia on Wednesday said that he was extremely excited that Enyimba FC of Aba won the 2013 edition of the FA Cup.

Orji, who spoke with newsmen at the Government House, Umuahia, on arrival from Abuja, added that Enyimba’s victory was a mark of more good things to come to Abia.

The governor, who led the state’s officials to watch the final of the competition played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on Sept. 15, described the match as a very tough one.

Enyimba came back twice in the final to force Warri Wolves to a 2-2 draw, after which Enyimba defeated Wolves 5-4 on penalty kicks.

“I was tensed up when Enyimba was down, but my confidence was that Enyimba will surely win the game and that really happened at the end of the match,’’ he said.

Orji said he would continue to support Enyimba FC, to ensure that the club was able to excel both nationally and internationally.

He also said that his administration would equally support other clubs, like Abia Warriors FC that was recently promoted to the Globacom premier league.

“We will continue supporting Enyimba, Abia Warriors and other clubs financially and morally, within the limits of our capacity,’’ he said.

With the victory, Enyimba FC will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup, while the runners-up, Warri Wolves, will play in the WAFU Cup. (NAN)
