Delta Assembly advocates devt bills

Delta State House of Assembly has reiterated its resolve to intensify efforts at passing new bills that will impact positively on Deltans in line with their constitutional calling of making laws for the good governance of the polity.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, spoke at the resumption of plenary for the third legislative year of the fifth assembly of the House.

Ochei said that for the House to function optimally, and in synergy with the executive in giving hope to the masses, who daily look up to government for succour, “the legislature must continue on its path of robust, painstaking and detailed legislation to ensure that our people continue to derive the benefit of good governance.”

He said that the House will continually synergise with the public, which is the hallmark of participatory democracy, and to debunk the notion that that legislators know it all.

He appealed to Deltans to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by public hearings to enrich the laws.
