Organisers of the first ever Bike-A-Thon ride to be staged in Lagos on Saturday, October 19 have announced the route of the fun ride in Lagos.
Chairman, Nigeria National Polio Plus Committee, Dr Funso Olatunji said Thursday while announcing the routes that the fun ride was designed to generate interest, increase awareness and raise funds for activites towards total eradication of polio disease which is endimic in Nigeria, especially in the Northern part of Nigeria. The race is part of programmes to commemorate the annual World Polio day on October 24.
Dr Olatunji informed that Nigeria currently remains one of the three most polio-endemic countries alongside Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Bike-A-Thon would be in three categories of 50km, 10km and 5km.
50km.
This route will take off from the LEKKI 1 in front of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church open ground to BourdilonIvanIkoyiLinkBridge then to the 3rd MainlandBridge to Adekunle, to Jibowu via Herbert Macaulay. Turn at Jibowu to Yaba and to Iddo, and Carter bridge to outer Marina to Awolowo Road, Bourdilon and via IkoyiLinkBridge back to the starting point for the Closing Ceremony.
