Bauchi—GOVERNOR Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, has approved the immediate re-engagement of 1,546 teachers whose certificates have been verified to be genuine and also passed the proficiency examination.

This came as the government announced that 553 teachers who were absent in both the first and second proficiency examinations without any genuine reason had been dismissed from service with immediate effect.

The approval was contained the memo by Chairman of the Teachers Service Commission, Surveyor Yahaya Baba, in pursuant to the on-going reorganization in the education sector of the State.

A statement by the government said certificates of 1,386 others were still with the verification committee for authentication to identify the genuine ones and that those found to be genuine would be reengaged into the service.
Part of the statement read, “96 teachers who failed the first proficiency examination but later sat for and passed the second proficiency examination have been re-engaged.

Also, 40 teachers who have genuine ‘O’ level and fake ‘A’ level certificates have been re-engaged but will be demoted to GL 05 and compelled to produce a minimum of NCE certificate within 3 years otherwise they will be compulsorily retired from service”.

According to the statement 553 teachers who were absent in both the first and second proficiency examinations without any genuine reason had been dismissed from government service with immediate effect.

The Governor also approved the immediate reengagement of 165 teachers who have fake ‘O’ level certificates and genuine ‘A’ level, but were given two years to enroll into Pivotal Teachers Training Programme, PTTP, and be downgraded to Grade Level 05.
