Bauchi Assembly wants two contractors blacklisted

By Suzan Edeh

Bauchi—The Bauchi State House of Assembly has asked the state government to blacklist China Zhangou and Sino Rich Field construction companies for allegedly failing to execute projects given to them in the state as specified.

The House gave the directive, yesterday, while accepting a report of the Special Committee constituted to investigate the cause of delay in the execution of on-going projects in the state.

A report submitted by the Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Bokoji Aliyu Bobo, said the payments made to the construction firms were more than the approved mobilization requirements.

According to the Chairman, “we noticed that there was lack of capacity and commitment in the execution of the projects. Apart from the fact that all the projects were not properly executed, the construction firms were paid more than the approved amount”.

He added that the committee noted that the amount of money expended was not commensurate to the work on ground as all the companies violated the terms of agreement of the projects.
