Rivers State Governor and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has stepped up the healthcare campaign in the state with a US-based health mission of experts to attend to people with glaucoma, cataract and other eye problems.
In a statement, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, said the US – based health mission, Hospitals for Humanity, was in the State as part of a special manpower development initiative instituted as a programme to enhance healthcare delivery .
Through the programme, the Amaechi administration brought in medical experts from all over the world to assist the Rivers State government medical personnel deliver quality healthcare.
The foreign medical experts are providing quality medical care praticularly for patients who suffer eye problems. The administration recently procured drugs to the tune of N1 billion. The Chief Press Secretary, Mr. David Iyofor said the Mission demonstrates the Governor’s passion for free and quality healthcare delivery to the people. The administration recently procured over N1 billion drugs for HIV treatment in the State.
