ABEOKUTA — A Chieftain of the newly registered All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Wale Okuniyi, has dismissed as false the controversy trailing the purported endorsement of the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for second term in office.

Okunniyi, who was a governorship candidate of the defunct Congress Progressive Change in the state in 2011 elections, maintained that the newly formed party was yet to name its governorship candidate for the coming general elections.

Okuniyi was quoted to have said this in a statement jointly signed by Olusola Odeyemi, Secretary, Dele Timothy, Legal Adviser and Bola Adeogun, Publicity Secretary, saying that the party would present a credible candidate as its governorship candidate for the coming elections.

It said; “The CPC will like to make it known to the general public that at no time has the party sponsored a candidate towards 2015 governorship elections, those behind the false story are disgruntled and suspended members of the party.

“Therefore, the statement is hereby dismissed and disregarded by the party, in view of the fact that Comrade Wale Okunniyi has not declared his gubernatorial ambition for 2015. He, however, remains a leader who led other members of CPC to the newly registered APC.
