Removing Tukur won’t solve PDP’s problems — Zayam

By Suzan Edeh

Bauchi —A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bashir Zayam, has warned that removing the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, will not solve the problems of the party ahead 2015 general election.

Alhaji Bukar who is the Assistant Publicity Secretary of PDP, Bauchi State Chapter, spoke, yesterday, at a briefing in Bauchi.

He said: “Removing Bamanga Tukur cannot solve the problems of PDP. If you remove him today and appoint another person tomorrow, some people may not welcome the ideas and programmes of the new leader hundred per cent. Tukur is a leader who is appointed by God to lead the party. He did not force himself to become the National Chairman of the party because he went through a legitimate process and won his election”.

According to him, every leader had his own challenges, hence such challenges should be addressed with patience, dialogue and understanding and not agitating for his removal from office.

“People should understand that PDP is a big party and once you have a big party, you are going to have challenges. It is the ability to manage those challenges that will determine how far you can go in the future.

“So, we are hopeful that we are going to surmount them and work as a team towards 2015. I don’t see anything out of the ordinary going on in the PDP. In PDP dialogue is one of the ways we resolve our differences. When we meet, we understand each other’s language as a family and suggestions are accommodated.”
