Ogun police recover 2 fleeing robbers corpses

ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Police Command said it had  recovered the corpses of two of three robbers who fled when policemen attached to Odogbolu division of the state engaged  them  in a gun battle along Omu/Epe road  in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State, last Wednesday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement in Abeokuta, yesterday,  explained that  his men went in search of the fleeing robbers with some members of the vigilante service of Ogun State and  recovered the corpses in the nearby bush a day after the gun duel.

It would be recalled that three robbers escaped with gun wounds  after engaging the police in a gun duel last Wednesday.

According to Adejobi, “the  corpses have been deposited in a mortuary in Ijebu Ode.

He said: “The command has put machinery  in place to harness all available resources on ground in the state to provide adequate security of lives and property for the general  populace.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye appreciates the people of the state particularly the members of the Vigilante Service of Ogun State for their support in achieving the effective policing of Ogun State.

“In the same vein, the command will always work with other security agencies in Ogun State, in all ramifications, to get the state rid of hoodlums.”
