Fleet Masters Limited is set to introduce contactless cards – an electronic payment solution that would enhance efficiency and sustainability of the mass transit business. This is coming three months after the firm launched two auto cards into the Nigerian market.
Managing Director, Fleet Masters, Mr. Abiodun Olusanya disclosed while addressing journalists at the company’s office in Lagos last week.
He said the new solution which is targeted at mass transit operators, will enable such investors properly and efficiently capture proceeds from the investment and by so doing boost sustainability of the system.
The contactless cards also known as the RFID system cards, Olusanya said, enable consumers make quick payment and are generally adopted to manage large number of human traffic in train and bus stations globally
While appraising the success of the card solutions launched earlier in May which he said had exceeded the company’s projections, the Olusanya said his company will continually seek newer means of improving on existing solutions and continually bring out new offerings that solve peculiar problems in the nation’s transport system.
Olusanya said the two solutions; the auto cards and the yet to be launched Contactless, are targeted at different segments of the market. Whereas, the earlier solutions were designed specifically for solving mobility and fleet management and logistics issues in individual and corporate fleet businesses, the Contactless are specifically targeted at operators of mass transit systems, whether rail or bus. States governments or corporate organisations running that are into mass transit operations, he said, form the specific target of the Contactless solutions.
Fleet Masters, he said, is pioneering the launch of electronic solutions in the transport sector of the Nigerian economy in Nigeria in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) drive for cashless transactions in the country.
