The Senior Development Manager of the FIFA Goal Project, Francesco Brescoli, on Wednesday said that the project was aimed at fishing out young and talented players in Africa.
Brescoli, who spoke when he led a delegation on inspection visit to a site in Bauchi where one of the projects would be constructed, said that FIFA placed high premium on the project.
He said Bauchi, Anambra and Lagos would benefit from the project, and expressed satisfaction with preparations of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in providing the land for the project.
The Site Engineer of the project in Bauchi, Mr Taiye Olajide, showed the delegation the master-plan, detailing how it would look upon completion.
He explained that the project, a standard stadium, would consists 22 rooms for officials, four restaurants, gymnasium, medical centre and general store, among others.
The NFF President, Aminu Maigari, applauded the gesture of FIFA to the people of Nigeria and Bauchi, in particular.
Earlier, the team paid a courtesy call on Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Sagir Sale, who thanked FIFA for considering the state for the establishment of the project.
The leader of the FIFA team had commended the state government for providing a befitting land for the project.
