CRC chides group for disparaging Amaechi

A group, Concerned Rivers Citizens, CRC, has condemned disparaging statement made against the person of the state governor, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, by a body that identified itself as Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI.

GDI had in a statement signed by its President-General, Bright Ameawhule, accused Governor Amaechi of raping the Nigerian constitution in connivance with his Attorney-General and President of the Customary Court of Appeal in respect of appointment of new chief judge for the state.

But CRC, in a statement signed by Igo Aguma, a former member of the House of Representatives, described GDI’s allegation as mischievous, blasphemous, adding that it strengthened its suspicion that the elements behind the GDI were determined to destabilize  the state, adding, however, that Rivers people would resist it.

The statement read:  “While we do not want to join issues with the evil driving, volatile and rabble-rousing GDI and its sponsors over the appointment of an acting Chief Judge for the state, we take serious exceptions to abuses poured on Governor Amaechi and his administration.
