As everything goes mobile, life seems to be shifting towards mobility. It’s now possible to do all shopping, no matter what the products are, on the mobile phone. And with latest developments those on the android smart Phones and Blackberry devices, would only need a tap on the phone to reveal where the latest restaurant, bar and the latest social joints are, in town.
Yet, for those who find it difficult getting choice products, same phones could also be of help. All it takes is downloading the right app and perhaps clicking on the right menu.
Now, search engine specialists Vconnect has made it even easier with an app tagged Vconnect mobile app. The new app is a chip off the web app which has seen about 600,000 businesses including the Small and Medium Entreprises, SMEs listed online.
The online portal says it decided to have mobile app which will run on Android and Blackberry phones, considering that everything is going mobile.
Vconnect’s Hiren Parikh, explained that although bringing over 600 000 businesses online could be a feat, the size of Nigeria also makes it possible for many people to consistently look for information on some of the things that are even closer to them. “So we believe that even though 600,000 companies is huge, it will also be more convenient if people can get prompts on their mobile phones about new developments and offerings.
The special feature which differentiates it from that of normal web listing is that the app is connected to a GPS map which takes a user from point to point until he or she locates a choice destination. The app is said to be designed light, 1-1 Mb for the android mobiles and a 2.2 Mb for Blackberry in order not to cause freezing
Already, Vconnect says it has started of campaigns both at eCentre in Yaba and City Mall Ikeja to get users to download the mobile app and at the moment, the app has recorded over one million visitors on the phone.
