Coach Stephen Keshi is confident that no team can stop the Super Eagles quest to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Nigeria are the reigning African champions and top Group F with five points, same as second placed Malawi, who have scored fewer goals than the Eagles.

But the group table is likely to change on June 5, when the next round of matches hold in Blantyre and Nairobi respectively.

The Flames of Malawi host Namibia while the Eagles are on the road to face a resurgent Harambee Stars of Kenya side, who held the Nigerians to a 1-1 draw in Calabar on March 23. It was that draw at the U.J Esuene Stadium, that enabled the Malawians, who also on that day, defeated Namibia 1-0 in Windhoek, to cut back Nigeria’s lead on the them.

With Malawi and Kenya breathing down Nigeria’s necks, the drama promises to reach feverish pitch on June 12 when another round of matches pitches the Flames against the Harambee Stars in Blantyre while the Eagles hit the road to Windhoek to battle basement side, Namibia.

Should Nigerian emerge unscathed from the group as winners, they will play a two-legged qualifier with one of the group winners for a direct qualification slot to feature in Brazil World Cup.

With such tricky fixtures facing him, Keshi, while speaking this week at the CAF Symposium for the analysis of the 2012 and 2013 Orange CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Cairo, Egypt, said that qualifying for the Brazil 2014 World Cup was non-negotiable.

“For me, qualifying for the next World Cup in Brazil is top priority. I believe that we have the team to qualify for despite what the scenarios look like, I believe that no team would stop us from achieving our 2014 World Cup objective”, said Keshi.

He however admitted that his Eagles would have to battle hard to earn their place in the World Cup.

“Like we did at the last Africa Cup of Nations, where we battled all odds to emerge champions, I know that we have to put in much efforts to justify going to the World Cup. All nations are serious about playing at the World Cup and if we have to be there, the we must work extra hard.

“In football, any team can cause surprises and the level of success one attains is determined by the level of preparations. We must prepare well and be determined because playing at the World Cup is non-negotiable”, added the former Mali and Togo coach.
