Warri Wolves FC has dissociated itself from the club owners association, describing the body as unserious and lacking the focus to key into the vision of the newly-inaugurated premier league body in taking the game of football to Eldorado.
This flak came against the backdrop of the news making the round about Warri Wolves’ suspension from the body over seeming irreconcilable differences.
In a statement, Warri Wolves said it owes its allegiance to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the organizers of the premier league, the League Management Company (LMC).
According to Wolves, the Nigeria Constitution gave entities and individuals the freedom to associate freely without compulsion. They said further:
“In the past, the so called club owners were indifferent to the cause of Warri Wolves when the latter, in an informal agreement with decision reached at the zone, failed to honour an FA Cup fixture in Bauchi because of security challenges, and got punished for it.”
Continuing, Warri Wolves asked the club owners what their inputs have been in the Sunday Mba saga which has dragged for months.
“If the Club owners knew their onions, it should have constituted a committee on the issue and forwarded its recommendations to the appropriate football regulatory bodies”.
Warri Wolves see the club owners as a body set up to achieve only selfish and primordial motives, while maintaining that the suspension of Hon. Alex Amudo from the club as its Vice Chairman is a foregone conclusion, as the erstwhile Vice Chairman did not seek the authority of the Delta State Government, owners of Warri Wolves before attending meetings of club owners where he made statements and commitments inimical to the interest of Warri Wolves.
