UGHELLI—PRESIDENT of  Urhobo Democratic Assembly, UDA, Chief Arthur Akpowowo, has charged the Urhobo nation to desist from embracing opposition parties and give their unflinching support to the ruling political party in Delta State.

Akpowowo, during the courtesy visits of the group to the Transition Committee Chairmen of Udu and Uvwie Local Government Areas, Mr. Raymond Edijala and Mr. Bright Edejewro respectively, noted that there was a lot to gain when an ethnic group gives its support to the ruling party.

He said: “The politics of 2011 was that of ethnicity and sentiments,” lamenting that there was a downward trend in the 2011 elections, when the Urhobo people drifted into the opposition.

Saying that the visits were embarked upon to congratulate the council chairmen, who are members of UDA on their appointments, he noted that the group was put in place to sensitise the Urhobo people to retrace their steps to the ruling party and make themselves relevant in the scheme of things, politically.”
