ABUJA — THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Thursday urged President Goodluck to strip Governor Adams Oshiomhole of the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON, he gave to him in 2011.
Addressing journalists in Abuja yesterday, Chairman, Edo State chapter of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, said the move had become imperative against the backdrop of alleged age falsification by the governor on year of birth, adding that Oshiomhole was 61 years old and not 60 as celebrated.
The PDP also said it had petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to investigate the matter to establish whether or not a case of alleged perjury had been committed by the governor.
“In a similar event at his inauguration for his second term in 2012, his citation with April 4, 1953, as date of birth, was also read in his presence and the presence of Edo State chief judge.”
But reacting, Governor Oshiomhole, who described the call by Orbih that President Jonathan should de-robe him of the CON honour as laughable, said Orbih was only trying to be relevant and get board appointment from the President.
