Strip Oshiomhole of CON, PDP tells Jonathan

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA- THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Thursday, urged President Goodluck to strip governor Adams Oshiomhole of the national honour of the rank of Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON he gave to him in 2011.

Addressing Journalists in Abuja, Chairman, Edo State chapter of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih said that the move has become imperative against the backdrop of alleged age falsification by the governor on year of birth, adding that Oshiomhole is sixty-one years old and not sixty as celebrated.

The PDP also said it has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar to proceed and investigate into the matter to establish whether or not a case of alleged perjury may have been committed by the governor.

Orbih who noted that the date filled by the governor in his INEC form CF001 as his date of birth which was 4th April, 1952, said that the governor gave the same date of birth in his voter’s card, with serial number PU12/06/10/001.

He said, ‘’It is on record that on November, 12, 2008 at the official inauguration of Governor Oshiomhole for his first tenure, his citation which stated his date of birth as April 4th, 1953 was read in his presence and the presence of the Edo state Chief Judge. In a similar event at his inauguration for his second term in 2012 his citation with April 4th, 1953 as date of birth was also read in his presence and the presence of the Edo state Chief Judge.’’

But reacting, governor Adams Oshiomhole who described the call by Orbih that President Jonathan should de-robe him of the CON honour as laughable.
