Sports Federation Elections: IG averts chaos

By Pat Omorodion
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar yesterday saved  what could have been a crisis as he stopped an aggrieved police officer working in the Presidential Villa who brought his men to stop the election into sports federations.

The police officer(names with-held) whose grouse was that he was not allowed to be in the basketball federation, but taken to chess is said to work directly  with the President in Aso Rock. The embittered Police officer even threatened to arrest the chief Electoral Officer, Dr Bolaji Ojo-Oba if he was not allowed in the basketball federation board.

It took a phone call from the Sports Minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi to the IG to stop the angry police officer and recalled him from the election ground at the Abuja National Stadium.
