…I will defend my husband’s status even in death—widow
Family of late Adindu Ohamara, the 34-year-old banker who was murdered in his Akoka abode in Lagos, three weeks ago, has described as untrue report that their late brother was a gay, calling on the police to unravel the circumstance that led to his death and bring his killers to book.
The late Adindu, an Assistant Manager with the United Bank for Africa , UBA, was reportedly discovered in the pool of his blood penultimate Saturday, by his flat mate, one Collins. He was reportedly rushed to three different hospitals where, unfortunately, he was confirmed dead.
However, news making the round alleged that the deceased was a gay. He was said to have been murdered by his apparently jealous gay mate, following his decision to get married.
The late Adindu, a graduate of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, reportedly did his traditional marriage last December, and the church wedding had been slated for June 22, 2013 only for him to die before time. His alleged killer, as gathered, visited him that fateful night and after committing the heinous crime, left with his tradition marriage photograph with his wife, his personal picture, laptop and phone.
Although the Lagos State Police command has arrested the deceased alleged gay visitor, a student of the Redeemer University but he(suspect) denied having anything to do with Adindu’s murder, nor admitted being his gay mate.
But members of the Ohamara family who are visibly angry with the gay story associated with their deceased brother’s death , stated that it was just a mere ploy to distract operatives from the true picture of his death. They are also of the view that Adindu’s murder could have been perpetrated by those who later roped him with the gay story.
Spokes person for the family, Mrs Immaculate Igbeka who did not hide the family’s anger said, “ Our brother was never a gay. Adindu, my brother, was very hard working and trust worthy. He was supposed to wed next month . The stories in the papers should be from whoever initiated his murder and must have brought up the story to divert attention and deceive the police from doing their work.
“From our back ground, we have said that he was not gay. We are from a Catholic background. The deceased used to be a man servant . He served from when he was a youth to when he was in the university. Initially, he wanted to be a reverend father, but our father kicked against the idea because he had already given out our eldest sister as a reverend sister, and she is currently the Mother-General in the catholic community.
“Our father objected to his joining the priesthood because he wanted him to represent his legacy because he is our last son. And every member of the family including our father loved him. That was why he could not go to the seminary. So, for all we know, the gay story is not only a rumour but also diversionary. Probably, the people who gave the news want to deceive those who want to fight the cause of Adindu’s death, by giving him a name he never was.
