Oganwu boosts schools sports in Delta

The Delta State Football Association raised its shoulder high, a day after staging a colourful Federation Cup finals at the Warri City Stadium, courtesy of a donation by an accomplished businessman and philanthropist, Dr. John Oganwu, who doled out Two Million Naira for youth soccer development in the State.

The donor, Dr. Oganwu,  who hails from Illah, the home town of Coach Stephen Keshi and renowned sports administrator, Pa John Ojidoh, is the first University graduate to play for the Green Eagles of Nigeria.

According to a press statement by the Secretary General of the Delta State Football Association, Mr. Friday Onothoja, the FA in conjunction with the Ministry of Education will engage selected primary schools in the State to compete in a football tournament from where one will emerge to participate in the Channels TV Kids Cup in Lagos.

The Delta FA, reputed for its private – sector driven programmes has set August 2013 for the Commissioning of a-N150m football secretariat christened “PATRICK OKPOMO FOOTBALL HOUSE”.  This project also got a N1m support from Dr John Oganwu.

It would be recalled that the donor was the recipient of the DFA Lifetime Achievement Award during the Delta Federations Cup finals held on Sunday 5th May, 2013.
