No militant camp’ll be allowed in N/Delta – JTF

By Emma Arubi

WARRI — MILITANT camps will not be allowed again anywhere in the Niger Delta region, just as the leadership of any community, where illegal bunkering is being carried out, will suffer the full wrath of the military.

Commander, 4 Brigade Headquarters, Benin City, Edo State, Brig. Gen. Pat Akem, made these disclosure, yesterday, at the 3 Battalion Barracks, Effurun, Delta State, during the launching of 12 Toyota Hilux patrol vans, donated by Delta State Government to assist the army in combating kidnap-pings, robberies and other crimes in the state.

He said that the deployment of the Quick Response Group, to flash points in parts of the state was part of the resolution taken at a security meeting with the state governor.

He appealed to Deltans and persons of goodwill to volunteer credible information that will lead to the arrest of criminals in their neighbourhood to make the state peaceful for residents, businesses and investors alike.

He said: “Security is every bodies’ business. We expect the host communities to co-operate with the soldiers by divulging credible intelligence to us, so that we can tackle cases before they degenerate into security problem for all of us.”
