No leadership tussle in Anambra ANPP – Orjiako

BY VINCENT UJUMADU

AWKA— THE Anambra State chairman of All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Chief Pat Orjiako, has said there is no leadership tussle in the emerging political party, noting that the concern of all the merger parties is to ensure that All Progressive Congress, APC,  wins the forthcoming governorship election.

He said: “As far as we are concerned, there is no leadership tussle. I am the chairman of ANPP and other people are chairmen of their political parties and who will eventually become the chairman of APC in this state is not an issue.

“If I become the chairman or another person becomes the chairman, the other person will go for another position. The major issue we are advocating from among the three major merging political parties that already have their executive in place because their tenure will be terminated by the new merger arrangement.

“Our assurance is that we are going to give Anambra people leaders who have vision and can assist the APC governorship candidate to win the next election. Personally, I am interested in winning the governorship of the state and not who will become the party chairman.

“But we must also have an independent- minded chairman that will be an asset and not somebody who will not be able to articulate how the party will move forward. We can get the chairman either by consensus, harmonization or by congress. So we are not quarrelling on who becomes the chairman of APC.”
