The 2013 Children’s Day Celebration at the Navy Sailing Club, Ojo was marked with a lot of water sport activities for children.
The children took part in 100 meters swimming(butterfly) boys and girls and kayak in U-5, U-9 and U-10.
In the 10 years and above 100m swimming race, Abdulmalik Auta beat Daniel Yakwe and Jasper Nyang to the first place while in the 10 years girls and above for the same distance Rakiya Momoh emerged tops ahead of Chika Amadi and Blessing Momoh to the third place.
In the Under 5 race, 4-year old Divine Momoh had a convincing win over Nine year old Victoria Eyibio and 6-year old Israel Akpanika while the the boys kayak race, Auta Sanusi finished first place as Ossai John and Auta Sa’ad came in second and third resprectively while in the girls category Momoh Joy finished first ahead of Janet david and Irondi Liberty.
On her part, the Guest of Honour and Mother of the Day and wife of the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Mrs Magarret Ibas expressed happiness at the display of the kiddies noting that they are the real future of Nigeria.
“What I’ve seen today has really impressed me and I must commend the Navy Sailing Club for their effort in organing the show for the kids. I’m going to disturb my husband to ensure that we sponsor the next Children’s Day race.
