UGHELLI — A member of the Maritime Union Workers in Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State was, weekend, killed during a physical combat with his colleague over whose turn it was to load passengers.
The deceased who was identified as Mr. Kuku Endurance, 31, engaged in fierce fight with Mr ThankGod, now at large, after those who were around were tired of settling the serious argument which lasted for over 10 minutes.
According to a dependable source, the deceased who was held by the throat was allegedly strangled to death by ThankGod in the fight which occurred at about 2pm.
The source who does not want his name in print, said ThankGod had gone into hiding when it became obvious that the kinsmen of Mr Kuku Endurance were coming after him.
Saying that the kinsmen who were enveloped in serious anger allegedly destroyed the building belonging to the maritime union workers when they could not lay their hands on the suspected assailant, the source said those around fled the scene after Mr Kuku Endurance was killed for fear of being arrested by the police for questioning.
Speaking further, the source said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Bomadi General Hospital morgue. As at the time of filing this report, effort was still being made to reach the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Bomadi Police division for comment on the matter.
However, a senior police officer attached to the division who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident. He said investigation was on and expressed hope that the suspected assailant would be apprehended for interrogation and prosecution.
