DUTSE—Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has asked the UK-DFID to provide qualified doctors to manage the ultra modern health institutions across the state.
The governor made the appeal while receiving some hospital equipment valued at N500 million from the DFID. The equipment would be distributed across the existing hospitals in the state.
According to Lamido, it had become imperative for the state government to make the request because it had established modern health centres but lacked qualified doctors to man such health institutions.
His words:- “I am appealing to DFID to please come to our aid by providing us with qualified doctors who will treat our patients and ensure effective health service delivery. We have available and equipped hospitals but what we lack are doctors and they will enjoy our environment when they come to the state.”
Lamido further noted that his administration has committed a lot of resources in a bid to bring back its lost glory in the health sector, adding that the situation had been bad in the sector had deteriorating since 2007.
