A CHIEFTAIN of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, Chief Tunde Alawiye, has called on the national leadership of the party and the presidency to discontinue ongoing reconciliation within the state chapter, saying that it would not yield fruitful results.

He also accused a former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George, of hijacking the state executive committee.

Reacting to the recent efforts by the national headquarters to douse tension within the party, Alawiye claimed the patronage accruing to members had been hijacked by George.

According to him: “How can they talk about reconciliation when about 18 members of the State Working Committee of the party are their members, while we have none?  All the board membership has been hijacked by them.”

He also said his group is making efforts to ensure harmonization of all members into the party hierarchy before the process of reconciliation can be said to have been complete.

“The Union is insisting that there has to be harmonization of positions in the party that will ensure that the two groups have representation before we begin to talk of reconciliation.” Alawiye said.

The PDP in Lagos has been polarized into two broad camps, The Establishment led by George and The Union which had other aggrieved leaders of the party as the arrowheads.
