Ikwerre leaders to wade into Amaechi, Wike feud

PORT HARCOURT — LEADERS in Ikwerre ethnic nationality have promised to wade into the  differences between two prominent Ikwerre sons, Governor Chibuike Amaechi and his erstwhile, Chief  of  Staff,  now Minister of State for  Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike.

Speaking shortly after he was elected, National President, Ekere Ikwerre, a pan Ikwerre non-political organisation, Engr. Dacoster Orlu-Akwu, who was a former Commissioner of Works and Transport in the state,  said the new leadership of the body would wade into the crisis between the two political leaders of Ikwerre ethnic nationality with a view to resolving their differences.

Ahead of a meeting of the body, Orlu-Akwu pleaded with  Governor Amaechi and Wike to sheath their swords,  adding that those fuelling the embers of disunity between the two should desist forthwith.

He  urged all Ikwerre sons and daughters to unite and work for the interest of Ikwerre and the entire state.

Others in the executive are the National Vice President, Port Harcourt, Arthur Kalagbor,Chief Sunny Dike; National Vice President, Obio Akpor Local Government Area and Prince Charles Beke, National Vice President, Emohua Local Government Area.

It will be recalled that Governor Amaechi, during his undergraduate days, was a president of the body.
